Zeftron® Nylon File: Dispelling LEED Myths

In this edition of the Zeftron Nylon File, we dispell one of the most common myths associated with LEED and its relation to commercial carpet products.

Zeftron nylon has also created a brochure that discusses this myth along with other myths such as:

  • Materials & Resources Credit 4: Recycled Content Materials
  • Materials & Resources Credit 5: Local and Regional Materials
  • Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 4.3: Low-emitting Materials - Carpet
  • Innovations Credits

In future editions of Zeftron Nylon File, we will dig deeper into these myths and provide practical advice from the brochure designed to help you.

If you wish to have a copy of the LEED Myths brochure sent to you, please contact us.

LEED Credit/Category: Materials & Resources Credit 2: Construction Waste Management

Myth: A carpet recycling program will get your project a LEED point.

Fact: Encouraging recycling of carpet as a part of a construction & demolition waste stream can contribute to a credit under MR 2. However, it must be combined with other waste diversion to achieve at least 50% by weight diversion rate of all construction materials.

Opportunity: The 6ix Again carpet recovery program can help projects meet waste diversion goals for this LEED credit.
