Traffic Classifications

The traffic classification. Assurance your carpet will remain true to its class.

Once carpet has been tested, it receives a traffic classification, the index of a carpet's suitability for a particular end use environment. For specifiers and end users, the traffic classification is more than just a gauge for judging which carpets will work best in each installation — it also assures the carpet's full protection under the Zeftwear® warranty.

  • Class I/Moderate Traffic (less than 500 traffics/day):
Carpet suited for areas that undergo a limited amount of activity, causing only minimal soiling of the carpet. Examples: executive offices, hotel guest rooms and meeting rooms.
  • Class II/Heavy Traffic (500-1000 traffics/day):
Carpet designed for frequent foot traffic in repeated paths, characterized by heavy dirt, grit, twisting, turning and spillage. Examples: hotel corridors, auditoriums, school classrooms and office lobbies.
  • Class III/Extra Heavy Traffic (more than 1000 traffics/day):
Carpet appropriate for areas of extremely frequent and concentrated traffic in repeated paths, in which there is severe dirt, grit, twisting, turning, heavy rolling and spillage. Examples: airports, hospital lobbies, school corridors and shopping centers.
